For 6 years this pubcrawl remained nameless - an embarassment to the community, the nation, and its founder. Prior to the pubcrawl in 2002, a call was put out across the website to name the unnamed pubcrawl. The Committee to Rename the Aging Annual Pubcrawl, or CRAAP, asked pubcrawlers to send in their suggested names as to what they thought the annual pubcrawl should be named. Then, in a CRAAP meeting held in January 2003, the committee voted on the name that the committee members felt "best represented the annual pubcrawl and what it means to this great city of Chicago."
Winning with a whopping 76% of the committee votes, the name "PubSprawl" was officially bestowed upon the pubcrawl. When the name was announced, the room was deafened by a 76% rousing cheer of celebration and a 24% rousing hiss of boos and anger.
With a swing of the gavel and a toast to the crowd, founder Peggy Mahoney, declared the new name "new" and the CRAAP meeting was adjourned.
